Introduction

  • When to wash hands?
There are so many tasks that will require you to wash your hands- some may include:
1 Before starting work for the day
2 Before starting work on any food handling station
    3 Before putting on gloves
4 After taking a break of any kind
5 After touching the mouth, nose, hair, or your skin
6 After shaking hands or touching other people
7 After using or cleaning the toilet, wash your hands in the restroom and then when entering the preparation areas
8 After any dirty task, such as emptying bins or handling waste
9 After coughing or sneezing into a hand/tissue
10 After touching a contaminated surface or object, such as picking up something that fell on the floor or touching door handles or pushing plates that may not be clean
If in doubt? Wash your hands…

    Handwashing Procedure:

1 Wet your hands with warm running water
2 Dispense Anti-microbial soap onto your wet hands
3 Rub palms together to make a lather. Scrub the backs of your hands, wrists, between your fingers, under your nails, and if required, your forearms.
    4 Rinse hands well
5 Dry hands using single-use paper towels from hand-free paper towel dispensers.
6 Use the single-use paper towel to shut off the water prior to disposing of it.

  • Each new hire must register a fingerprint at the time clock and be shown how to clock in and out for their shift and breaks.

  • This document is located next to the time clock and/or in other common areas of the restaurant. Please make sure the new hire is aware of any potential symptoms that may excuse them from workplace operations.

  • McDonald's Hazcom Application provides many great features including: Safety Data Sheets (SDS) with easy to use search function, Hazcom Safety Manual Quick Access to Poison Control Safety Videos, Restaurant Safety Quick Reference Brochure Safety Training Safety Tips & Best Practices This makes it easy to keep track of basic safety information and provide a digital quick reference to restaurant crew members and management. In the event of an emergency, the application has the option to share SDSs with others through Bluetooth, printing, email, AirDrop, and more.

  • A proper uniform is a must-have to begin work. Each employee must have: a Proper hat/ visor, shirt, pants, and non-skid / safety-tread shoes. Hair should be pulled up off the collar, and hairnets must be worn if a hat isn't present. Hygiene is important! A daily bath/ shower is important in keeping an employee void of odors which may create an uncomfortable enviroment for others.

  • Make sure the new hire knows where to take breaks. Review their responsibility to keep the crew/ break room clean. If the employees smoke, ensure they understand smoking in the building is prohibited, and show them exterior places that are acceptable smoking areas.

  • Cell phones and Bluetooth devices are not to be used while on the shift. We must put the needs of the customer first, and these items create distractions that may lead to poor customer service.

  • A hard copy of the schedule can be found in the crew room or some other common area of the restaurant. You can also ask your crew trainer for information about any scheduling apps your restaurant may use.

  • My Pay App: APPLE or GOOGLE PLAY

Lifelenz App:  APPLE OR GOOGLE PLAY

  • Review with the new hire where to locate the towel buckets,  identify which is clean/ dirty, and show them how to refresh and test the towel buckets.

  • Show the new hire where to locate the secondary timing machine, how to load the paper, and how its utilized.

Training isn't just for new hires. Oftentimes, we need to cross-train and even retrain our current employees.

The items below were our top  3 Food Cost Opportunities, let's give an extra focus on training to reduce the loss of these items
